We’re road-tripping from Jersey to Barnwell, SC, in two minivans stuffed with gear, snacks, and questionable life choices. I know we posted a seperate note regarding essentials so this is just my thought process on what's needed and what's not. Hopefully things like clothes you remember so you are not wearing the same shirt five days straight.
Packing for Rampage isn’t just throwing a few drones and batteries into a bag....it’s a strategic operation that feels part camping trip, part road trip, and part “how many props can I cram into this bag before the zipper won’t close.” The trick is finding the balance between bringing everything you could possibly need and still leaving room in the van for snacks, beer and you know, actual people. We all know that one guy who forgets their phone charger and underwear… don’t be that guy. :)
For most of us, the thought process starts with the flying essentials—quads, props, batteries, motors, arms, etc... You pack spares of spares because Rampage has a reputation for chewing up drones faster than you can solder a new FC. After that comes the “festival survival kit”: sunscreen, bug spray, decent shoes and maybe even a chair if you don’t want to spend five days sitting on the ground around the fire like you’re camping in a parking lot. And since we’re road-tripping from Jersey, the ride down adds another layer....snacks, playlists and enough caffeine to keep two minivan crews awake for nine hours of highway on the way to Fayetteville.
In the end, packing for Rampage is less about having the perfect setup and more about being ready for whatever chaos five days of nonstop FPV throws at you. Something will break, something will get lost and someone will definitely forget something. But if you’ve got your quads, your crew and (hopefully) at least one clean shirt, you’re already set for an unforgettable trip.
