How To Organize Your Rampage Videos!

Something you definately want to think about prior to arrival at Rampage is how to organize all the footage you are about to collect. I was pretty organized last year (insert joke here) and just wanted to share what worked for me.  However you choose to organize your footage, plan ahead of time.  Trying to figure out a gameplan while in the thick of it is not the best and could cause you to miss your best shots because you forgot what day and what drone it was on!

You can either bring a crapton of MicroSD cards, or do what I did and get your self an external SSD drive.  I am a big fan of the Samsung T7 1TB drive.  In fact, I have several of them.  If possible, pick one up just for Rampage as the are $89 on Amazon right now.  Then you'll need a laptop or a fansy-smanshy tablet that supports external USB-C connectivity.  If dont have either, you can share my laptop as the host and still take your drive home and retrieve your footage from there... No worries!

Now comes the fun part... building your folder structure.  This may seem tedious and unnecessary but you will thank me later for sure! On the root of your drive create 3 folders... Day 1, Day 2, Day 3.  Then inside of each Day folder, yes EACH Day Folder, create a folder for each of your quads... I named each of mine so I have a folder for ther name! Each time you format the SD card the DJI naming convention may conflict with the prior day so all the more reason to create folders for each day.

This may seem like a lot of work but believe me it works.  At the end of the day when back at Mission Control or the Bates Motel, just offload the entire contents of your SD cards to the appropriate folder for the appropriate day then format the card to be ready for the following day's activities! Done!  You may not fly all the drones for the folders created but you have no idea what the day will bring so still create them all..... If you didn't fly Smurfy today, just delete the empty folder and move on....

Once you get back home and have some time to digest all the footage it will be all organized for you.  It's funny how you will remember your best flight was at Bandoland on Day 2 with Frozone......

If buying a new external SSD is not in the cards, you can certainly utilize a drive you may already have.  If not, let me know... happy to share!

Hope this info helps!
